Hi Renaud, I don't know anything about black lights, but I do know that you can buy cheap tubes and fixtures from hardware stores instead of aquarium stores. Just make sure to buy the "daylight" or "sunlight" bulbs and check the labeling for specific color temperature ratings. As for the fixtures, I've heard good things about shoplights. Just go to any hardware store like Ace or Home Depot and ask for shoplights. I believe they're significantly cheaper than lighting labeled specifically for fish (even though their usefulness is identical). I'm glad nothing happened to your tank when the filter blew up! I've looked online but shipping is expensive for small quantities. Oh, has anyone experienced with black light? Is it dangerous to the critters or the plants? Disaster struck while I was away for Christmas (of course). The impeller in my Fluval 304 got stuck somehow; the motor kept spinning for days and melted the impeller housing! I had to extract it with pliers. Thankfully the tank and its critters are okay, but I believe the Fluval to be dead. I opened it up and the motor/impeller housing is all one piece. I placed an order for an Eheim, it better not happen again. --Renaud Your free subscription is supported by today's sponsor: ------------------------------------------------------------------- Like music?
