If she changes out the gravel for a neutral one, she won't see as much
gunk.

That's the thing. It's not a swamp at all. It's actually cleaner than
my 55. She's got a 20 gallon eclipse and she wants it completely
emptied out and the purple gravel replaced because it's dirty?!?!
I've been telling her (based on my 30+ years of keeping tanks that what
she wants to do is actually bad for the fish but she won't listen to
me. I am just amazed that this friend of mine who is a member of PETA
and is all for animal protection and animal rights doesn't realize that
she'll become more of a fish killer by "cleaning" her tank than just
doing a good gravel vac and wipe down of the inside.
I'll try talking to her one more time tonight but I guess the price
isn't too far off.
