Welcome to Detritus Bulletin Board Members The San Francisco Aquarium Society is a San Francisco based Aquarium Club founded in 1923, at the same time as the Steinhart. We funded colletion trips for the Steinhart collections, and contributed to construction projects. We never funded the Steinhart. We are are Private not for profit California Educational corporation charted in 1948. We have always been co-located with the Steinhart Aquarium in Golden Gate park. We hold 10 monthly meetings for the educational benefit of our members. Members of the public / local bay area hobbyists are welcome to attend as guests of the Society. The meetings start with a guest expert speaker and end with a auction. We hold one mega Auction are year normally in March. While the Academy of Sciences and the Steinhart Aquarium’s new facilities are being built we are meeting on the Campus of San Francisco State College. This is just 2.5 miles from our old Golden Gate park location. We meet the first friday of the month. Sometimes there is a conflict in July with the holiday. When that happens a backup date is posted on our Website, other than that this has been our meeting time for 80+ years. At least seven days before our meeting the monthly speaker and topic of interest is posted on our Website (members get adbance notice): http://www.sfaquarium.org/ We use the Facilities of the SF State Conference center. In January we will take the entire Tower Conference center. In February and later months we will be meeting in the Seven Hills Conference center. It is in the center of the campus. Both are located next to the Dining Center. Any student can tell you where the dining center is.
