don't forget the beaches and rivers for sand and rocks.  (please, people, no more admonishments about "stealing" sand from the beach)

While driving down Geary on my way to see Justin I noticed a store in Japantown that had pallats of stone and a sign saying something about quality rocks.  It is on the north side of Geary, near the AMC theater.

If you're up Mendocino way Fuchsiarama in Ft Bragg has over a dozen kinds of landscaping rocks, including several kinds of granite, slate and other metamorphics...also Fuchsias!  www.fuchsiaramafortbragg.org

Don't use the greenish-gray rocks you see around here.  They're serpentine, which contains high levels of heavy metals.

There is a very cool place in Portrero hill that is a combination landscape architects' office and retail store...all I can remember is it's near the water.  They and other landscape architects might be able to help.-----Original Message----- From: allen lau Sent: Oct 7, 2004 6:22 PM To: detr-@topica.com Subject: [detritus] SF Rock/Sand Stores
