Hi Naomi, I agree, When I started going there I was almost exclusively into cichlids and they did not have much to offer me. But now that I am setting up more community tanks and (gasp) a planted tank, suddenly there is a lot more for me to see there. I moved a a little over a year ago and the two LFS in this area are doing well if they have anacharis, so it is worth it to me to go to Albany on a weekend. It is much cheaper than taking BART to OCEAN or driving over there, especially as the prices can be, shall we say, high? Ya ya, I know, he quarantines them and they are the most fabulous fish on the West Coast. Not many of them make it to my tanks because they cost too much. Having been almost a daily visitor at my old LFS it is easy to see that stores have busy days and may not be aware of sick fish. I always point it out unless I am at 6th Ave. no point bringing it up there. Also having been to Albany twice in a weeks time I had a chance to see they have a high turnover on plants. First visit, they seemed well stocked, later in the week almost empty tanks. My two cents, Mike |
