Sorry for not responding sooner--I went on vacation after sending out that message... I'll take a look at trying some of those ideas for covering up the gaps. The top on the tank right now is two sheets of glass; cutting them to fit around the filter is easier said than done... The cardboard or CD cases are sounding pretty good. :-) Come to think of it, one of the fish was hanging out in the top corner under the filter for a while, but then it seemed to spend more time under the rocks with the others, so I didn't think about it any more. I haven't had any breeding activity in the tank (yet). When I get a break from school, I hope to move the group to a bigger tank.
