The Sound of Silence  Jonathan Young

Hi everyone!

I've never heard anyone else mention this before, but if you have an
Aquaclear HOB filter and you want to quiet it down even further (since it's
pretty quiet in the first place), take off the lid or rotate the lid 180
degrees. If you do the latter, you still get some coverage, even though the
lid will be tilted (due to the intake adjustment propping the lid up). It's
truly amazing, since I keep my tanks in my bedroom, and I've been trying to
find a way to quiet them down, and tonight I just chanced on this solution.
Before, I could hear them from across the room, but now as I type this
message, I don't hear a single thing other than the sound of my computer's
fan humming. It's so great!!! I just wanted to let anyone know in case
they've been having the same issue. I love the sound of silence!!! =)

Jonathan

P.S. I think running a filter with the lid completely off would be bad,
since water would evaporate faster and stuff could fly into your water, but
on the plus side, does it mean you get improved oxygen exchange?
