Christmas in Albany :-)  Naomi Mizumoto

Hi, All!

I took a little trip to Albany Aquarium yesterday. Found three plants I'd
never even heard of:

Trichomanes javanicum ("Aqua Fern")
Saururus chinensis (I've only heard of S. cernuum)
Cryptocoryne pygmaea (they didn't actually have any of this, but it came
with their last shipment and I guess sold out pretty quickly)

The aqua fern may not have been in prime condition, but it was a very
interesting-looking plant! When you see it from the corner of your eye, you
might mistake it for Bolbitis heudelotii, but when you look at it, it's
very different and has this neat sort of shape to the fronds. The shipment
came in last week, but most of the plants looked to be in pretty good
condition. I guess that plant tank with CO2 injection is really helping to
preserve them longer.

I think they're expecting more plants early next week. Gosh - I wonder what
Santa's bringing next ;-)?

-Naomi
