I have all the macros and mesos in the correct forms (potassiums salts for
the anions and sulfate salts for the cations). It is just a question of
figuring out how to package them. A volunteer party would be a good idea.....

As a follow up from the macro group, I have been trying to find potassium
sulfate from the local nurseries but have been striking out. Does anyone
know of a source in the East Bay? All the plant nurseries say that our soil
has plenty of potassium, so nobody needs to fertilize for it. Even the
hydroponic places I called didn't have anything. It was easy to find the
phosphate source :)

Thanks much for the feedback Cliff. There are definitely lots of lighting
options out there... and more light necessitates a little more attention to
nutrient & C02 conditions. Higher-light tanks are a bit more work to
maintain, at least initially.
But the results can be fantastic.
We'll do lighting at the March 7 meeting!

I think people need help in figuring out whether they need strong lighting
and dosing. I've cut light to 1 watt per gallon and a lot of cool plants
still
grow, and no more algae problems. In the room the tank looks nicer now
that it's not so blazingly bright. Thanks for doing the study group...there
seems to be a lot of interest.
