Hi William, I hold the tank via the bottom.. many smaller aquariums are strong enough to be held at the topside, but what you mention is true, some frames aren't well attached. Sometimes you'll see folks walking around during aquarium society meetings holding old rickety tanks one-handed via the top frame.. I think this is a risky state of affairs :-p You can configure your personal list settings so that posts are send out in a digest (note that you may not get time-sensitive posts in a timely manner). As I was cleaning it and doing the leak test and that sort of thing, I got to wondering: what is the proper way to hold a tank? By the top or the bottom? The bottom part is the part that would have to be stronger because of water and gravity, but the top doesn't seem to have noticeably thinner glass. It would seem to depend on how well the plastic frame is glued in place. Any thoughts? Just wondering. ;-) Also, I just have to ask, is this list available in a digest format? It seems pretty quiet so far, but I'm signed on to other aquarium lists, and I always try to sign on for the digest format just to keep my email under control. ;-) Anybody know? It's great to have a way to talk to other SFAS members between meetings. ;-) William Tracy in the Land of the Hair Algae _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp |
