Dave,
I believe the by-laws state there has to be 12 members on the board. However, there is only a few that are the dead wood clogging up the works...perhaps even one!
I agree with your revolution. The SFAS is one of the oldest groups in the country. It's time it start looking like the prestigous group that it is instead of a nickle and dime outfit from east nowhere!
Long live the revolution!

My read on the SFAS was that a couple of entrenched members were
clogging
up the works with last milleniums ideas. I think the fix is to run
a
"revolution" slate and boot them out. The prime planks of the
revolution
platform:
1. The SFAS has enough money that it should be able to solve its
chronic
problems. I am referring specifically to overload on the poor board
members and general and board meetings that run well past midnite.
2. The SFAS needs to have open and announced policies and
procedures. Meeting schedules, budget, etc.
3. The SFAS needs to keep to its policies and procedures.
4. The SFAS needs to stop being so damned cheap. Lots of its
problems can
be solved with a little money, which the SFAS has.
I will carry a gun and shoot in this revolution but I am neither
inclined
nor equipped to be its leader. Shelley would be good, Kim would be
good
if she hasn't given up, Mike might want to do it, I will carry one
gun, I
would bet Wright and Jay would too. How about Jeff Kropp and Steve
Dixon?
How many soldiers do we need? How many board members are there
Mike?

It would be nice if we could turn that around, and ease SFAS

into the loop

Ello Wright! Say, funny this topic should come up.. this may not

Sounds likely, Eric.
The Pres. (Schelly Numrich) seems willing and eager. All we need to
do is
get off our backsides and go do the work. Maybe I should attend
another
meeting, for a change? ;-)
Delighted to hear you are going to move the stalled web site ahead.
It could
be a wonderful resource, with a master bay area calendar of fishy
events,
up-to-date club contacts, etc. I think it has suffered from outside
information sources not knowing exactly how to utilize it, as much
as
internal problems (like never posting programs before the meeting
or
location/date changes). Go for it!
