Would you please supply more information? I can help
advise on goldfish in particular so here's the usual
laundry list:

1. What's your experience with goldfish--how long have
you had them? etc.

Keeping GF-10 years
Seriously--two years
these particualar fish have been wiht me between six months and two
years.

2. What are the conditions you keep--

 number
78 give or take, counting last year's fry.
23 more or less adults

 and size
of goldfish (measured from nose to base of tail)

less than one inch to four inches, sans tail or 8 inches with tail,

 size of tank,

55 gal
30 gal
40 gal-adult
40 gal-fry
15 gal-youngsters
15 gal-fry
and, 40 gal of baby koi

 temperature

downstairs tanks around 70 right now, upstairs abit warmer

 pH-

varies from tank to tank, usually over 7.5

 ammonia,

0 ppm in all GF tanks,

 nitrite

0 ppm all tanks

 nitrate,

haven't measured lately, usually around 10 ppm

filtration system (including gph of filter)?

55 gal--Emperor, the big one and AC 200
40 gal--AC 200 and Magnun HOT
40 gal fry--AC 200, AC mini, ugf powered by the AC 200
30 gal--two AC 200's
15 gal upstairs--AC 200
15 gal down stairs--corner box filter
10 gal--AC mini

3. What, if anything, has changed lately--that you
know about? New fish added, new plants, new
decoration, etc.]

Teh sun came out, I remembered to add some CaCO3 in some of the tanks
1/2 tsp to 1 1/2 tsp depending on tank. I don't know if the water dept
did something new or if something evil in the water work up and bred in
the reservoir when the sun came out.

4. How do you change the water and how often?

I remove the old water with a syphon that has a AC mini foam block cut
in half and stuck on the fish tank end of the syphon by way of a hole
cut in said foam block, and the not fish tank end stuck out the window
or in the sink, depending on hte room the tank is in. Then I put in new
water temp balanced from the tap, after I dechlor the water. Once a
week.

How much
water do you change at a time?

20-30 per cent.

Do you treat the water
 for chlorine or chloramine?

Chloramine.

5. Where's the tank located? E.g., near a window with
direct sunlight?

None in direct sunlight up close. Some in dim rooms. Some get some AM
light, some get Pm light.

BTW, the fry are still up for grabs, if ppl won't feed them to other
fish.
